What it is

Égide is an anti-theft app for Google Pixel running GrapheneOS, installed as Device Owner. If the phone is stolen or lost, it erases its confidential data before an unauthorised third party can reach it.

Hardware

Google Pixel, Pixel 7 and newer, running GrapheneOS, as Device Owner. Tablets are not supported.

Cost

Installation and the protections that run on the device are free, with no expiry. The remote wipe and the wipe if the phone is cut off from the network are premium, with 30 days included at setup.

Data collected

None. No account, no e-mail, no name. One installation per device.

Remote wipe

It is sent by SMS while the SIM card is active, or over Tor while a data connection remains. Neither reaches a phone that is off or off-network. The wipe program is generated on the phone, never sent to our servers.

Premium payment

On a separate service, never on this site: in Monero, with no middleman, or by card, visible to your bank. Prepaid credit, with no automatic renewal.

Verifiability

GrapheneOS is downloaded from its official servers, and its verified boot rejects any unsigned system. Égide updates are signed, and unsigned versions are refused.

Part of the code, the decision core, is published for inspection; the execution mechanics stay closed. Source code

What Égide is not

  • Not a phone or a SIM to buy: it is software you install on your own Pixel.
  • Not a way to find a lost phone: it does not locate the device or make it ring, and a wipe is irreversible, so keep a backup elsewhere.
  • Not a finished product: it is in active development, provided as is, with no external audit published to date.
