Install the application
Installing is free and self-service: there is nothing to ask us for, nothing to pay, and no account to create. This page sets out what stays free, what belongs to premium, and what to prepare before plugging in the phone.
What is free, and stays free
The protections that live inside the phone have neither a subscription nor an end date. They never stop for lack of credit.
- Wipe after several wrong unlock codes, even if the phone has no network at all.
- Wipe after a prolonged lock: a phone left switched on that never comes back to you ends up wiping itself.
- Tamper resistance: stripping Égide of its rights or trying to neutralise it triggers the wipe.
- Your choice of mode, a targeted wipe of the sensitive space or a full wipe of the device.
- Optional camouflage, if you decide to turn it on.
- Signed security updates, delivered over Tor.
What belongs to premium
Every device starts with 30 days of full premium. After that, premium credit is topped up on a separate portal. Without credit, the options below stop triggering a wipe; everything else carries on uninterrupted.
- Remote wipe: you order the wipe from anywhere, by SMS from a phone, or over Tor from a computer.
- The wipe in case of aeroplane mode or loss of network: beyond the delay you set, the phone decides on its own, with nothing sent to it.
Premium is tied to the device, not to you
There is no account in your name. Premium credit is attached to the phone itself, through an identifier derived from the device that contains no identity and that we cannot link to anyone.
- What this gives you: if you reinstall the system, your credit comes back to you. You do not lose what you topped up because you reformatted the phone.
- What to know: it is one installation per device. Reinstalling does not reopen the 30-day trial, and a phone that has already been installed does not start over.
Before you start
- A compatible Pixel, and a computer with a USB cable. Everything happens in your browser: there is no software to install on the computer.
- GrapheneOS replaces Android. The assistant installs that system first, then Égide on top. You do not go back to the original Android without starting over.
- Back up everything you want to keep. The assistant reinstalls the operating system: the phone is wiped entirely, including photos, messages and applications. Nothing survives it.
The assistant is a separate site, hosted on the same server. It guides you step by step and announces, at each step, what it is about to do.
A question before you start? The FAQ answers the most common ones, and support the rest.
Access my account
Tracking your premium credit and topping it up happen on a separate portal, which knows nothing about you but an account code. This site holds no account, sees no balance and takes no payment.
